What is CyberKnife surgery?
CyberKnife is a robotic stereotactic radiosurgery system for cut-free treatment that precisely delivers radiation to cancerous and benign tumors. It can also treat not accessible tumors or ones that are very risky to operate. CyberKnife has a 6-D tumor monitoring system that adjusts rays according to patient's movements during the treatment in order to minimize radiation exposure to healthy tissues and organs.
It is a bloodless and painless procedure. The CyberKnife treatment takes up to 90 minutes. No anesthesia and recovery period are necessary. Patients can usually leave shortly after the treatment, but may need to attend follow-up appointments to monitor the results of stereotactic surgery.
