FAQ about Hysterectomy (uterus removal) in United Arab Emirates

What is a hysterectomy?

Hysterectomy is a procedure to remove the uterus. It is prescribed in case of the uterus, cervix or ovary malignant tumor; uterine fibroids, advanced endometriosis, etc.

Top-3 countries for the best hysterectomy procedure

Germany

Germany is considered one of the leaders in medicine. German doctors apply alternative therapies to to preserve the uterus. But in case if hysterectomy required, doctors conduct minimally-invasive surgery to reduce the recovery period and minimize injury rate. If necessary, after hysterectomy specialists choose hormone therapy to maintain woman’s health.

Due to the high medicine level, the hysterectomy operation cost in Germany is 2-3 times higher than in Turkey, Thailand and other countries within the EU.

Turkey

Turkish healthcare is getting more advanced each year. It even reaches the German medicine level. The deal is Turkish hospitals work according to international treatment protocols. It guarantees the high quality of medical procedures. Turkish clinics buy the latest equipment which is as advanced as in German medical centers.

Despite these benefits, the uterus removal cost in Turkey is 2-3 times lower than in Germany.

Thailand

Thailand is among the primary destinations among international patients, including American ones. Local medicine also achieves the international level and complies with high world standards.

Thai clinics offer package hysterectomy price that allows saving up to 30% of the money. Moreover, in Thailand a patient can combine treatment with the rest: the clinics look like luxury resorts.

The hysterectomy cost in Thailand is at the same level as in Turkey.

Hysterectomy options available abroad

There are several types of hysterectomy abroad. They are divided according to the volume of the removed tissues and surgical access. All these may affect the uterus removal surgery cost.

Hysterectomy types according to the volume of surgical intervention:

  • subtotal hysterectomy is a removal of the uterine with preserving the cervix
  • total hysterectomy is a removal of the uterus together with the cervix (the total hysterectomy cost is higher than the subtotal one)
  • radical hysterectomy is a removal of the uterus with the cervix, parovarium, the upper part of the vagina and the lymph nodes.

Hysterectomy types according to the surgical access:

  • open (abdominal) hysterectomy is the most traumatic type. It is made through the big incision. The cost of abdominal hysterectomy is lower compared to less traumatic methods.
  • laparoscopic hysterectomy is considered minimally invasive, has shortened recovery period. The average cost of robotic hysterectomy is 10-20% higher than the abdominal hysterectomy cost.
  • robotic hysterectomy is performed laparoscopically with a robot assistance. This hysterectomy technique is the most accurate and allows preserving the maximal volume of tissues.
  • vaginal hysterectomy is performed through the vagina without incisions in the abdomen.

Only a hysterectomy doctor can decide what surgery type is more suitable in each particular case.

According to the hysterectomy type, a specialist calculates how much does a hysterectomy cost.

Hysterectomy consequences

A woman loses her ability to have a child forever after hysterectomy. But for young women, doctors suggest freezing the egg.

After hysterectomy, the periods disappear; the ability to be sexually active is preserved.

In some cases, doctors prescribe hormone therapy to maintain woman’s health.

Depending on the hysterectomy type, the scarring may remain.
