Additional information
Transarterial microembolization (TAME) is a minimally invasive option for frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) that is not improving fast enough — for people months into the condition who still cannot sleep on their side, dress comfortably, or lift their arm, despite physiotherapy, medication or injections.
Frozen shoulder is associated with inflammation of the joint capsule, and in many persistent cases with abnormal microvessels that develop around the inflamed capsule and keep the pain cycle going. In TAME, an interventional specialist advances a thin catheter through a tiny puncture under real-time X-ray guidance into the small arteries supplying the shoulder capsule, and selectively treats the abnormal microvessels associated with persistent inflammation — while preserving healthy circulation and the surrounding tissues. There is no incision, no capsular cutting, no manipulation under anaesthesia, and no implant.
Most suitable patients are discharged the same day, and TAME can be combined with a continued rehabilitation plan — reducing pain is often what finally allows physiotherapy to work.
Why patients choose TAME for frozen shoulder at YOUNIFY Clinic:
• Designed for the long, painful middle of frozen shoulder — when "it will resolve on its own eventually" is not an acceptable answer for work, sleep and daily life
• Tiny access point, image-guided precision, shoulder structures preserved
• An alternative pathway to capsular release surgery or manipulation under anaesthesia for selected patients
• Same-day discharge for most suitable patients; rehabilitation can continue almost immediately
• Evidence-based, physician-led assessment — symptoms, imaging and treatment history reviewed before the procedure is offered, often before you travel
• Medical team background includes postdoctoral research at Brigham and Women's Hospital / Harvard Medical School and at Mayo Clinic
• Silom, central Bangkok — five minutes' walk from BTS Sala Daeng, daily 11:00–20:00, English-speaking staff, WhatsApp coordination
International and Muslim-friendly patient support: patients from the GCC and Muslim-majority countries are welcomed — privacy and modesty respected (particularly relevant for shoulder examination; a female physician can be requested where available), halal dining around Silom, Ramadan-aware scheduling.
TAME does not treat rotator-cuff tears, shoulder arthritis, instability or fractures, and frozen shoulder secondary to other conditions requires individual review. Final eligibility and expected outcomes are determined after specialist assessment and imaging review.
***Individual results may vary. Please consult a physician before undergoing any procedure.
