Prostate cancer diagnostic and treatment scheme depends on the tumor stage.
The development of cancer is mainly defined by three criteria: the extent of cancer (restricted to the prostate, spread to lymph nodes or to other organs), the characteristics of the cancer cells under the microscope (Gleason score) and the PSA level (Prostate Specific Antigen) in blood. Prostate cancer treatment and diagnostics may differ depending on the stage of disease.
At early stages of prostate cancer removal of prostate gland with daVinci robotic system is performed (prostatectomy). At stage 3 and 4 surgical intervention can be combined with chemo-, immune or targeted therapy.
