Veneers in Thailand

Dental veneers are porcelain or composite shells coating face surface of the teeth to correct the shape and the color of teeth, and to protect them in a smile vision. In a result, a restored tooth becomes solid, not differing from the rest of patient’s teeth. Veneers are produced in accordance with the shape and colour of the patient’s teeth and his/her wishes.

In contrast to the crowns, veneers cover not the whole tooth but only its anterior (face) surface and tooth cutting edge. Dental veneers are 0.5-0.6 mm thick (approximately 2 times thicker than egg shell. There is a special kind of veneers of 0.2-0.3 mm - lumineers.

Indications to use veneers:

  • tooth chipping or fracture;
  • wedge-shaped defect;
  • dental arch is not straight (and do not require usage of orthodontology);
  • progressive teeth abrasion;
  • unattractive colour of teeth that cannot be improved by whitening;
  • diastema (space between front central teeth);
  • cutting edge treatment;
  • not attractive shape of a dental crown.

Contraindications:

  • many teeth fillings on the front teeth;
  • no grinder (chewing) teeth;
  • teeth-grinding;
  • abnormal bite;
  • harmful habits (open bottles with teeth, gnaw nails)
  • treated with Resorcinol-Formalin teeth;
  • extremal kinds of sports (box and other contact sports).

Differences between Direct Veneers, Porcelain Veneers and Lumineers

Composite (direct)

Porcelain

Lumineers ("Hollywood" smile)

Purpose

mostly for tooth restoration, crown dental implant buildup

for tooth color and/or shape change

for tooth color and/or shape change

Advantages

  • not the whole tooth can be adapted but only the part for correction - teeth injury is smaller
  • one visit to the dentist is required
  • higher strength than in direct dental veneers
  • resistance to the spots and plaque
  • allows to recreate all peculiarities of a tooth making its shade and look as natural
  • teeth are just minimally affected (milled) - and not injured - due to lumineers thinness
  • don’t change colour in time
  • has longer service time

Disadvantages

  • lower strength than in porcelain
  • composite is destroyed by alcohol (including alcohol drinks and breath fresheners containing ethanol)
  • colour can be changed in time
  • two visits to the dentist are required
  • higher cost than in composite veneers
  • colour is a little differ from natural
  • higher cost than in composite and porcelain veneers

Material

dental composite - material similar to dental filling

porcelain

patented Cerinate porcelain

Procedure

  1. A dentist examines teeth condition and chooses the shade for the composite material according to the specified Vita scale grade.
  2. A tooth (teeth) is milled with dental drills approx. on 0.3-0.7 mm for the thickness of a veneer.
  3. A veneer is formed on the tooth surface layer of the composite material by layer.
  4. A finished veneer is milled and polished.
  1. At the first visit to the dentist a check-up is provided and colour is selected.
  2. A tooth is milled on 0.5-1.5 mm depending on individual patient’s peculiarities and condition of the teeth.
  3. A dentist makes a dental impression.
  4. A temporary plastic veneer is installed on the milled tooth.
  5. A dental laboratory technician makes a precise stone model using tooth impression and a veneer for the stone model.
  6. At the second visit, a dentist changes temporary crown into the veneer with the help of compound glue.
  1. A dentist makes impressions for 2 jaws.
  2. A dentist creates smile modelling with the help of a computer program.
  3. All data are sent to the lab where lumineers will be manufactured.
  4. At the second visit to the dentist, a patient fits the lumineers. If they completely match, a dentist installs them to a patient.

Differences in veneers

Dental Veneers Thailand Cost

Porcelain dental veneer in Thailand costs around 130-330 USD per tooth while in the USA the price is about 800-1,900 USD per 1 porcelain veneer.

At the same time all Thai dentists providing veneers are trained and certified in the USA and provide services according to the international guidelines on the equipment of last generation.

It is important to remember that dental veneers price depends on many factors, including:

  • diagnostics
  • anesthesia (if required)
  • impressions;
  • temporary crowns;
  • material cost;
  • manufacturing method;
  • dentist’s fee;
  • individual health case.

Veneers and Lumineers aftercare

Dental veneers do not require special care, dentists recommend not eat solid food, carefully brush and floss teeth, regularly visit a dentist, do not open bottles and nuts with the teeth and avoid risky activities that can lead to accidents, falls etc. If a patient takes care after the veneers, they can be on service during its service life.
